I resolve

I resolve to believe.

Believe in me.
I resolve to believe that there are ways I can make a difference in this world.
I will find a way to help those who need help and help those in need.
An easy thing to say, but what can I really do? Should I run for office? Try to start a charity? Start a cause?
I want to do none of those things. There are already enough politicians. Charities are having a hard enough time trying to get a slice of the goodwill pie these days as it is. Causes flair up and die just as quickly.
No, I don't want any of that.
I will help in the best way I can. I will help where I can and however I can. No, I am not Kwai Chang Caine and I will not wander the earth.
But I will donate my time, money and heart to causes that help those in need. I will look to those cash and volunteer strapped charites around me and find a way to help them.
It's a small way, but if there are others with the same idea it will make a dent. Which brings me to:

Believe in you.

I resolve to believe there is good in you.
Of course, you've always thought you were good, but I didn't. I find it hard to believe in you, because I've seen so many people do so many bad things. It's one of the side effects of being a journalist.
However, I realize that believing and cheering for the good in people is the only way to allow that good to come through.
So, I will believe in you. I will help you. I will care. So now if you believe in me and I believe in you, then:

Believe in us.

I resolve to believe that together we can all make a difference.
Times are hard for so many, and I know each of you feels it in some way. It might be a family member, friend or you who is being hit hard financially and emotionally.
Well, here's how we make a difference. Tear down the wall of fear and isolation of those who are hurting. Reach out to them; help them.
If you can set aside a little money for charitable giving, do it. If you don't have money, you have time to volunteer.
If we all did everything that we thought we should to help others it would create a massive influx of cash and volunteers.
OK, you say to yourself, "I don't have time to do that." You have time to go to the gym 4 days a week? Then you have time to volunteer to help a charity.
Do you have the money for a daily Starbucks coffee? Then you have money to give to charity.
This isn't about you, this is about all of us. I believe even a small change helps if enough of us do it.
I believe in you. I believe in me. I believe in us.
